Lost Sock Collection is an experimental poetry film: a multi-sensory experience steeped in loss on every level and told through the lens of time.
Lost Sock Collection includes a collection of six poems. The poems are knitted together with a song by Jahzzar entitled 'Fibonacci.'
The layers of sounds in the piece are collected from far-flung locales around the world: bumblebees in middle America, waves crashing in Montenegro, a girl splashing in a shallow pool, hiking in Transylvania, the Prague Symphony warming up, a needle dropping on my father's favorite record. The highlight of the background audio—and from where the piece derives its name—is from a live performance art piece performed in Malaysia entitled, Lost Sock.
Wide-reaching filming locations include the verdant Carpathian Mountains from Balan to Brasov in Romania, the seas of Montenegro, and Thailand, the hills of central Italy, art in Paris, biking in the Netherlands, the Utah valley, and forests sprung from ancient riverbeds in America's heartland.
Lost Sock Collection is an Official Selection at the 2019 Manchester International Film Festival screening in Manchester, UK. It is also a Selection of the 2019 SHORT to the Point Film Festival in Bucharest, Romania.
Filmed in Montenegro, Romania, and the U.S., Don't Tell Me I'm Beautiful is a poetry film made for the poem of the same name by American poet Eliot Michl. Michl narrates her poem and appears in various stages of her life throughout the film.
Don’t Tell Me I’m Beautiful was chosen as an Official Selection at the 2018 Juteback Poetry Film Festival. JPFF is Colorado’s only poetry film festival and one of only two poetry film festivals screening in the U.S. today.
The film was chosen again as an Official Section at the 2019 FADFest in Detroit, Michigan. The FADFest brings together Fine Art, Experimental Short Films, and Music from around the globe.
